Testing for Leaks and Evacuation
Leak Testing
• The charge points should be located on each of the refrigerant hoses on the outside of
the vehicle at the bulkhead
• Attach the nitrogen tank to the low-side
• Perform a leak test by pressurizing the system to 250 psi and then checking for leaks at
each fitting and connections, and throughout the evaporator and condenser coils
• The system should hold pressure for at least 15 minutes
• Sometimes but rarely the unit could be damaged during shipping
• If there is no leaks evacuate the system
Evacuate System
• Evacuate the entire system to meet local refrigerant handling standards. We recommend
at least 30 minutes vacuum before charge
• After the unit is empty move to charging the system
Charging the System
The VAR series is a two part refrigeration system that requires the unit to be
installed and then charged using R134a refrigerant.
