TLS-IB Site Prep Manual Connecting Probes to the TLS-IB
29
Connect probe cable shields and drain wires to ground in the TL S-IB only, not at the field junction boxes. Do not ground
both en d s of the sh ie l d.
AUTO PROBE CONFIGURATION
Duri ng a co ld boo t , th e TLS-I B w il l aut o m a ti ca ll y c on fi g ure con n e ct ed probes -
CAUTION!
For auto configuration to
occur, probes must be connected in sequence, starting at the Probe 1 input and continuing with no skipped inputs. For
example, if you have 4 probes and you connect them to Probe inputs 1, 2, 3, and 4, auto configuration works fine. But if
you connect them to Probe 1, 3, 5, and 7 auto configuration doesn’t work, resulting in probe out alarms. Also, the
skipped inputs will be unusable.
MANUAL PROBE CONFIGURATION
If y ou connect probes af ter the sy stem has been powered they must be manually conf igured. To conf igure probes for the
TLS-IB , us e ei th e r the IF SF co mm an d “Nb-Ta n ks ” (No. 1 [se eTabl e 10 on page 41]); or th e RS -232 “ Set Tan k
Configuration” command (No. 601 [Table 9 on page 40]).
