j) Current measurement in 10A range (AC = True RMS)
In this range, currents of up to 10 ADC/AAC can be measured. The measuring range is provided with
fuses and thus protected against overload.
In the AC range, the current is measured as a true RMS value. You can switch to “AC+DC-coupled True
RMS” by pressing the yellow push button.
Proceed as follows to measure 10A currents:
Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the •
10A jack.
Set the range selector switch (5) to “A”. After the measuring range has •
been selected via the range selector switch (5), DC measurement is
automatically activated.
Now connect the two probe tips in series with the measurement object •
(battery, circuit, etc.); the respective polarity of the measured value and
the measured value are shown on the main display (12). The active
measuring range is shown on the left subdisplay.
For AC measurements, press the blue button once. “AC True RMS” •
appears on the display (1).
For AC measurements, the measured value is shown on the main •
display (12). The frequency of the alternating current is shown on the
right subdisplay, and the active measuring range is shown on the left
subdisplay.
Never measure currents that are higher than 10 A.
Measurement of currents of > 5 A to 10 A may be performed for max. 10 seconds and
only at 15-minute intervals (cooling phase for the shunt). Continuous measurement is
possible for currents of 0–5 A.
k) DC loop current measurement in percent
This measuring range is used to display loop current as a percentage.
The measuring range is 4 mA = 0% to 20 mA = 100%.
Proceed as follows to measure loop currents:
Set the range selector switch (5) to “mA”.•
Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the •
mA/µA jack.
Press the blue button twice; “LO %” appears on the display.•
Now connect the two probe tips in series with the measurement object •
(battery, circuit, etc.); the loop current is shown as a percentage.
