REMEDY
Vent the fuel system as shown on page 50
Open the fuel cocks
Fill with fuel/connect the correct fuel tank
Fit new fuel filters (pre-filter and/or fine filters). Vent
the system as shown on page 50
Check stop solenoid has not been switched on unin-
tentionally
Check solenoid valve has not been switched on un-
intentionally
Try starting again as shown on page 22
Check that none of the semi-automatic fuses has
tripped (pos. 4 in the engine’s wiring diagram on
page 73 or pos. 9 in diagram on page 75). Reset the
fuse by pressing in the button.
Check the electrical leads and key switch, starter re-
lay and high power relay (swap the starter relay tem-
porarily with stop relay if required). Contact author-
ized service personnel if the starter element needs to
be replaced
Check for any EDC diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
(see pages 92–95). Contact authorized service per-

Starter motor turns over as normal but engine
does not start
CAUSE
● Air in fuel system
● No fuel
– fuel cocks closed
– fuel tank empty/wrong tank on line
– fuel filters clogged (due to contaminants/paraf-
fin precipitation in the fuel as a result of low
outside temp.)
● Stop solenoid* incorrectly connected/seizing
● TAMD63: Solenoid valve incorrectly connected
● Insufficient preheating**
– incorrect starting procedure
– starter element is not engaged
● TAMD72P: Faulty position sensor in the governor
● TAMD72P: Faulty rpm sensor in the governor
● TAMD72P: Faulty actuator (governor)
* TAMD63 and TAMD72P have no stop solenoid.
** TAMD63 and TAMD72 have no starter element.
