Install the inlets with their openings (strainers) facing
forward. The sea cocks (3) must be closed when the
boat is being towed.
Brush suitable sealant, e.g. silicone rubber, on the
sealing surfaces. Tighten the inlet using the nut (2).
Install the sea cock and hose union (3). Use a non-
hardening sealant.
IMPORTANT!
Always
use two hose clamps on all hose unions. Align
the hose clamp screws (4) as illustrated.
The seawater line must have gentle bends to avoid
unnecessary stresses and flow restrictions. Use rein-
forced rubber hose that can withstand negative pres-
sure.
IMPORTANT!
The hose between the seawater inlet (seawater filter)
and the engine must not be under tension; a certain
flexibility must be allowed. If the hose passes through
a bulkhead or similar it must be protected against chaf-
ing.
Seawater filter
During operations in shallow waters and harbors etc.,
it is impossible to prevent particles, sludge and sand
from entering the seawater inlet. These foreign objects
can be caught by filters in the suction line. A seawater
filter contributes to longer pump service life and also
prevents engine damage that may occur due to insuf-
ficient cooling in the charge air cooler or heat
exchanger.
The seawater filter must be installed in an accessible
location forward of the engine at least 200 mm (8”)
above the water line in a loaded boat, e.g. on an easily
accessible bulkhead.

63 mm (2½")
Seawater pump outlet diameter:
63 mm (2½")
Clearance for removal of filter cartridge (A):
200 mm (4.72”)
If the water is heavily contaminated it may be neces-
sary to install a filter with extra large capacity.
