A traction help function without lifting the lifting axle can also be im-
plemented using a simple 12 V ABS tag axle valve in combination with
the TEBS E4 Multi-Voltage.
Activation of traction help
ISO 7638: Actuation via the ‘Towing vehicle’ CAN port from the towing vehicle.
SmartBoard: Activation via the control menu of the SmartBoard.
Control box: It is only possible to start the traction help if the lifting axles are
located on the ground above the fully automated lifting axle (start using the ‘Lift
lifting axle’ button).
Remote control unit: Activate via the Lifting Axle Preselection and M1 buttons.
Trailer Remote Control: Activation via the ‘Traction help’ button see chap-
ter 10.2 ‘Operation with Trailer Remote Control’, page 172.
Brak
e actuation: By activating this parameter, the traction help can be acti-
vated or deactivated by actuating the brake 3 times when stationary (between
the three brake actuations, the pressure must drop below 0.4 bar). The follow-
ing condition applies here: Vehicle is stationary. The brake must be actuated
and released 3x in 10 seconds with a pressure of 3 to 8 bar after a period of
2 seconds without braking pressure.
By actuating the brake 3 more times, the axle is force-lowered.
Automatic with ignition on: Activation of traction help with ignition on. This is
used to automatically increase the support load with central axle trailers or pro-
vide more traction in winter conditions.
Automatic with curve detection: Traction in the towing vehicle is increased
during slow cornering.
By engaging the reverse gear
More information on operation, see chapter 10.4 ‘Operation of traction help’,
page 182 an
d see chapter 10.2 ‘Operation with Trailer Remote Control’, page 172.
Forced lowering is activated by actuating the brakes another 3 times.
Traction help can also be activated via the Traction help with ignition
on setting. The function is automatically switched off when the preset
deactivation speed is reached or via the forced lowering function.
Traction help
The traction help function is supported for lifting axles on the last axle
for semitrailers or central axle trailers, i.e. the lifting axle is raised or
lowered on request.
Activation: 1-time actuation of the button (less than 5 seconds).
Traction help ‘type Northern’
Time-dependent traction help control is also possible (in 1 second
increments, max. 1,200 seconds).
With lifting axle valve 463 084 3. 0 the lifting axle is lowered automati-
cally 5 seconds after exceeding 130% of the axle load.
Activation: 1-time actuation of the button (less than 5 seconds).
‘Off-road’ traction help’ (only start via button)
This function has been created to briefly allow higher pressures
(thresholds) for the traction help function for private traffic.
Activation: Actuate the button twice briefly.
