Tray 5 (Bypass) Overview
Tray 5, also called the Bypass tray, accommodates all types of stock in various size and weight ranges. Tray 5 holds
a maximum of 250 sheets of 80 g/m
2
plain paper.
There are three ways to connect Tray 5 to your printer:
• Mounted to the optional 1-Tray or 2-Tray Oversized High Capacity Feeder
• Mounted to the optional High Capacity Feeder
• Mounted directly to the printer
There are two Tray 5 models available:
• Standard Bypass tray: Use this tray with any of the three mounting options.
• Optional Extra Long Sheets (XLS) Bypass tray: Use this tray with the 1-Tray or 2-Tray Oversized High Capacity
Feeder only.
The supported paper types and weights for Tray 5 varies depending on how the tray is connected to your printer.

You can load all media that is supported by your Tray 5 configuration into either Tray 5 model, but when sheets are
longer than 488 mm (19.21 in.), for the best results, use the optional XLS Bypass Tray mounted to the Oversized
High Capacity Feeder.
