  If you are not getting any confocal images, consider these potential causes and solutions: * **No laser beam incident from the objective lens:** Turn on the key switch (Green LED), switch the microscope light path to the camera port, select the through (no DM) block in the microscope, remove the DIC polarizer, and turn on the laser system. * **Light path is at the 2nd port:** Push the knob and switch to the 1st port. * **Laser is too weak:** Power up the laser. * **Microscope illumination is ON:** Turn down the illumination. * **Camera is not working:** Inspect the camera following its instruction manual.

  If you're seeing dust in your images, here's what you can do: * **Dust at the specimen:** Clean the cover/slide glasses. * **Objective lens is dirty:** Clean the objective lens following microscope instructions. * **Dust on the camera port, DM, or pinhole disk surface:** Remove dust with air-blow from the camera port aperture of CSU. Be careful to avoid damaging the optical parts. Small particles originating from the base plate of dichroic mirrors could be visualized with highly sensitive cameras as minor artifact images.
