“NAN” is returned.

current byte and returns the search position.
Syntax :SEARch:I2C:SEARch:PREVious?
Example :SEARCH:I2C:SEARCH:PREVIOUS? -> -10
Description When the search is successful, a value in the
range of –5000 to 5000 is returned. If it fails,
“NAN” is returned.
