Troubleshooting
The following table lists error indications that may occur on the
ZOLL AED 3 defibrillator, and the associated corrective action. For a
more extensive list of error messages, see the ZOLL AED 3
Administrator’s Guide. If the defibrillator is not working properly, contact
ZOLL’s Technical Service Department for assistance. See “Contacting
Technical Service” on page 27 for more information.

Technical Problem Recommended Action
UNIT FAILED prompt Initiate manual self test by pressing and
holding the On/Off button for more than 5
seconds. Check to see if the defibrillation
pads cable is attached properly to the
defibrillator or replace the defibrillation
pads. Cycle power on the defibrillator by
turning the AED off, and then on again.
Replace the battery pack.
If the defibrillator still does not operate
correctly, remove the AED from service and
contact ZOLL Technical Service (see
“Contacting Technical Service” on page 27).
Beeping noise when AED is off Check to see if the defibrillation pads cable
is attached properly to the defibrillator or
replace the defibrillation pads. Remove the
defibrillator from service and replace the
battery pack. If beeping continues, contact
ZOLL Technical Service (see “Contacting
Technical Service” on page 27).
Green check does not appear in
the status indicator window
Initiate manual self test by pressing and
holding the On/Off button for more than 5
seconds. Check to see if the defibrillation
pads cable is attached properly to the
defibrillator or replace the defibrillation
pads. Replace the battery pack.
If the defibrillator fails the test again,
remove the AED from service and contact
ZOLL Technical Service (see “Contacting
Technical Service” on page 27).
