AMT/PTD/TR/0001/3/7/EN Installation Manual for digital sets - IP sets - SIP sets
Page 2-8 05/2008 General information
2.11.7 M7xx and i7xx sets, release 3.2 and later
i7xx sets have no voice prompts; instead visual messages appear on the display of i760 and
i780 sets and nothing appears on the display of i740 sets (example of automatic callback)
IP sets can only be used for teleconference with a PBX version above E3F.
Do not connect an external power supply to an M705 extension that is fitted to an i780 set.
According to the manufacturer, remote supply distribution is different through the RJ45 network
connector.
When the set is connected, the M780's screen displays an hourglass pointer for a few seconds,
then offers the choice of language. The message "Choose display language" remains
displayed, forcing the user to select the language, and then to calibrate the screen.
By default, the set is set to auto-negotiation to enable it adapt to the relevant LAN and PC
configurations.
Depending on the software version in the i780, ignore the Language selection menu that is
displayed for a few seconds after the sequence PROG ! 99, before the question mark
?
appears.
Do not use the line connector when connecting to the IP network. It is covered by a label.
The frames sent by the PC connected to the i7xx set remain untagged in IEEE 802.3.
The various labels for the parameters are only given in English.
For an i740, if the original network cord is not used, the rigid part must not exceed two
centimetres.
Only one extension module with a DECT handset charger (M705) can be connected to each
set.
The access to the headset microphone connector on the M740/i740 is masked by a cover in the
shell mould. This cover must be removed before plugging in a headset on this type of set.
If the intercom is activated in AUTO or MANUAL headset mode, the set switches to HANDSET
mode. Headset mode for M740 and i740 sets can only be programmed by substituting a set
with interactive keys.
If a PC is connected to the set's switch port, the PC connection may be cut for a few seconds
when the IP terminal or the call server is rebooted.
It is not possible to manually program the Ethernet port in CISCO Remote supply mode.
Technical statuses TD02XXB03 of i740, TD03XXC02 of i760 and TD04XXB02 of i780 do not
allow remote power supply by CISCO Catalyst 3524.
Not all the ports of the CISCO Catalyst 3524 switch can be used simultaneously to remotely
supply power to i7xx sets. The maximum number of ports that can be used (between 10 and 15)
depends on the types of IP terminals connected and the extensions fitted.
An M760E set (set with LEDs) must not be equipped with an IP cartridge.
2.11.8 M7xx and i7xx sets release 4.1 and later
Release 4.1 enables you to extend call by name to the entire range (except M720/M730).
To use the call by name feature in release 4.1 and later, M740x and i740x sets must be
downloaded with set software release 5.3 minimum.
As from this set release 5.3, the i7xx sets manage login site optimisation (2 IP addresses).
From the same set, dual-homing function enables to define a backup number.
