10.5 Architecture
Figure 10.1 Architecture using the SIP access point
By default (factory configuration), the 312i mobile terminal is set to DHCP and uses FTP to load the
firmware. This configuration enables you to load the terminal automatically.
The protocols available for downloading are: TFTP, FTP and HTTP The download server hosts the
firmware.
10.5.1 Configuration with DHCP server
See Section 15 - Appendices
Note: it is not possible to choose power saving mode and DSCP/TOS through DHCP.
Using a DHCP server to assign IP addresses to the mobile terminals is not obligatory, but it
simplifies the management of addresses and reduces the risk of errors (IP address duplications,
etc.).
You can use the DHCP server available on Windows 2000 or 2003 servers, or use a free DHCP
software solution, for example TurboDHCP.
If a large number of SIP terminals are deployed, DHCP automates the configuration of the
terminals.
Thanks to the DHCP option configuration, the server can provide the mobile terminals with the SIP
account IP configuration and parameters.
10.5.2 Configuration without DHCP server
In this case, all the SIP account and IP configuration parameters must be entered manually.
