5.3.8.8 Power supply
The ADS350XD is the power supply module of the main cabinet and expansion cabinet of an Aastra
XD.
Depending on the configuration of the AXD, power is supplied to the cabinets through 1 or 2
ADS350XD (or previously ADS 300XD) power supply modules:
• For a simplex configuration, only one power supply module is used by the cabinet. A
ventilation system is then added instead of the second power supply module.
• For a simplex configuration with secure power supply, and for a duplex configuration,
two power supply modules – with the same references - are used per cabinet. The power
supply modules then work in load-balancing mode. If one power supply module becomes
faulty, the other one carries the entire load.
Note: On one very server ADS300XD and ADS350XD can’t be mixed.
Two slots on the right side of the cabinet are used to connect two ADS350XD power supply
modules:
• Both slots are general-purpose slots, and a power supply module can be fitted or removed
while the cabinet is working, as soon as the other power supply module is working.
• One power supply module is enough to carry the load of a cabinet, even within its currently
defined maximum capacities.
• When a position is not occupied by a power supply module, a VADS ventilation rack should be
placed there to ensure proper ventilation of the cabinet.
The mains power supply voltage of the ADS350XD has the following characteristics:
• Rated voltage: 120V or 230V compatible with 110V/220V
• Tolerance: +/- 10%
• Frequency: 50 or 60 Hz
• Power: 300W
An optional, external 48V backup battery can be installed (see Autonomy section).
The two power supply modules include the following functional blocks:
• a 48V converter providing the following voltages:
• +5V / 15A and -5V / 0.5A
• +12V / 0.5A and -12 V / 0.65A
• -48 V / 1.9 A (DECT telephone sets and base stations)
• 70V / 0.2A ringer
• 25-50 Hz (symmetrical current)
Reminder: The ADS300XD power supply is replaced by the ADS350XD power supply on the new
AXD gateways.
The ADS350XD has the same characteristics as the ADS300XD, except:
• The 48V converter of the ADS350XD provides a 7A voltage that is used as the following :
• On the main cabinet
• 2.1A to feed the converter,
• 2.95A to feed the sets and the DECT stations,
• 1.95A to charge a 16Ah battery for 10 hours (providing 4 hours autonomy)
