18 Disinfection
When using the KALEIDOS accessory, in the 2WIN-S configuration, it is necessary to
disinfect the area where the face of the patient will contact the device, before any change of
patient.
Disinfection should be achieved by means of single-use disinfecting pads, such as individ-
ually wrapped sterile Alcohol Wipes, with 70% ethyl alcohol, or other single-use antiseptic
sanitizer swab, rubbing it onto all the contact surface of the KALEIDOS mask, according
instructions provided by swab labeling, and in any case for at least 1 minute.
Reusable pads are to be avoided.
The disinfection procedure here described is conceived to avoid transmission of pathogens
from and to intact skin. Special precautions must be applied to avoid the contact of wounded
skin with the device.
