File Management Specifications
The functionality described in this chapter is supported on the OmniSwitch Series switches unless other-
wise stated in the following Specifications table or specifically noted within any section of this chapter.
File Transfer Methods FTP, FTPv6, TFTP, Zmodem.
Switch Software Utility OmniSwitch as an FTP Client, FTP server or
TFTP Client.
Configuration Recovery The flash/certified directory holds configurations that are certified as
the default start-up files for the switch. They will be used in the event of
a non-specified reload.
Switch /flash Directory
64 MB flash memory available for switch files and directories
(OmniSwitch 6850)
128 MB flash memory available for switch files and directories
(OmniSwitch 6400, 6855, 9000, 9000E )
Contains the /certified and /working directories.
File/Directory Name Metrics
32 characters maximum for directory and file names
(OmniSwitch 6400, 6850, 6855)
128 characters maximum for directory and file names
(OmniSwitch 9000, 9000E )
255 character maximum for a fully qualified path
File/Directory Name Characters Character types are limited to a-z, A-Z, 0-9, dashes (-), dots (.), and
underlines (_).
Maximum Number of
Files/Directories
Maximum of 244 files and/or directories allowed in the root (flash)
directory.
Sub-Directories Up to seven sub-directories allowed including /flash.
Text Editing Vi standard UNIX editor. The Ed standard UNIX editor is available in
the debug mode.
System Clock Set local date, time and time zone, Universal Time Coordinate (UTC),
Daylight Savings (DST or summertime).
System Date Default Value THU JAN 01 1970 (Thursday, January 1, 1970)
