DLM-600 installer & user manual Rev. 1.3 16-11-2011 20 / 39
MODE
The DLM-600 has several modes: Adapter, Backup adapter, GSM Dialer, GPRS Dialer.
Adapter
In adapter mode the DLM-600 creates its own analog phone line to able to connect an external PSTN
dialer or control panel with analog dialer. If the connected device will pick-up the line and start
transmitting the line will be converted to GSM. In this mode the DLM-600 does not generate its own
messages.
Backup adapter
Adapter in backup mode, the existing analog (PSTN) telephone line is connected to the LINE connector
of the DLM-600. The CMK connector is connected to the external analog (PSTN) dialer or control panel
with integrated analog dialer. Normally the LINE and CMK are connected together. Only when the line
voltage of the existing analog telephone line fails the DLM-600 will automatically switch over to GSM.
Optionally, the switch over can be forced by programming a 3-digit prefix in front of the telephone
number in the analog (PSTN) dialer or control panel with integrated analog dialer. In this mode the DLM-
600 does not generate messages and is purely used as a backup transmission channel.
GSM dialer
In the GSM Dialer mode the DLM-600 operates as a stand-alone GSM dialer to transmit messages via
GSM to the selected numbers. These messages can come from the inputs or via the RS485 bus. The
PSTN interface (CMK and LINE) is disabled in this mode.
GPRS dialer
In the GPRS dialer mode the DLM-600 operates as a stand-alone GPRS dialer to transmit messages via
GPRS to a SIA HS IP receiver in a central station. These messages can come from the inputs or via the
RS485 bus. The PSTN interface (CMK and LINE) is disabled in this mode.
GSM SETTINGS
For GSM / GPRS communication various settings are necessary. For the correct settings, ask your
telecom provider.
Sim Pin
If the PIN-code on the SIM card is active, the PIN-code must be programmed here.
APN, Username, Password
These settings are only used in GPRS mode and must be delivered by the provider.
Roaming
Roaming is the possibility to enrol to another GSM / GPRS network than the home network. Some
providers do not have their own network and it is therefore necessary that roaming is enabled.
In the border there is a chance that the DLM-600 could accidently enrol to a provider over the border
which will create high calling costs. Point out this risk to the end user! In these situations it is
recommended take a subscription with a provider that does not require roaming.
RS485 BUS
The DLM-600 can also be used as a GSM / GPRS dialer for the AlphaVision control panel.
