DLM-600 installer & user manual Rev. 1.3 16-11-2011 8 / 39
In the GSM adapter mode an existing analog (PSTN) dialer is connected to the CMK connection and all
alarms transmitted by the existing analog dialer are done via GSM.
OUTPUTS
The four outputs are used to indicate a specific situation like power supply failure, battery failure (if a
battery is connected), phone line failure, fail to communicate (FTC), RS-485 bus failure or GPRS failure.
The outputs can also be remotely activated using a DTMF telephone. In the programming you can
determine whether an output is activated and deactivates once the event is restored, or that the output is
activated for a preset time (programmable from 1 to 3600 seconds).
When an output is programmed as fail to communicate, the output will be activated after the
programmed number of dial attempts is called and it has not succeeded to transmit the message.
Output 1 and 2 are relay contacts, with J32 and J33 you can determine whether the relay output
functions as normally open (n.o.) or normally closed (n.c.).
Output 3 and 4 are open collector outputs and the maximum current drain may not exceed 200mA. Open
collector output 3 and 4 are also equipped with an automatic circuit breaker, which intervenes if the
drawn current is higher than 200mA. If an open collector output is used to activate a relay switch, then
one side of the relay coil is connected to the OC output and the other side of the coil is connected to the
12V including a diode.
RS-232
To program the DLM-600 it must be connected to a serial port of a PC (COM port). This requires a
programming cable (art. code. 003834) and the Alpha Tool software V2.4 or higher.
Start the AlphaTool software. How the AlphaTool software must be installed is described in a separate
manual for AlphaTool. After connecting the programming cable apply the power supply to the DLM-600.
POWER SUPPLY
The DLM-600 dialer should be powered with a 12-16VDC power supply. If the DLM-600 is equipped with
a battery pack (art. code. 004 211), then the dialer should be powered with a 16VDC power supply
otherwise the battery pack cannot be charged. To prevent damage to the dialer always use a switched
power supply 16VDC / 1.9 A (art. code. 200074), the DLM-600 was developed according to this power
supply.
Connect the 16VDC power supply to the + and - terminals. When the voltage drops below 10.6 V (± 2%),
a "Power Failure" message will be sent. In idle state the DLM-600 has a current drain of approx. 60mA
(without battery pack connected and no outputs activated).
The DLM-600 is also available in a version (art. Code. 004027) in synthetic casing including a switching
power supply and battery pack. The DLM-600 has its own loading and detection circuit for the battery
pack. The battery pack is automatically loaded and monitored. Connect the battery pack connector to the
BAT terminal.
If a battery pack is connected you must also enable the "Battery" option in the programming. The DLM-
600 will now check every 4 seconds for the presence of a battery pack. Also every 24 hours a heavy
battery test is performed to check that the battery still has sufficient capacity.
