5.16.43 Operation of Quadramho with capacitor voltage transformers
For reasons of economy, capacitor voltage transformers (CVT) are often used in
preference to electro-magnetic voltage transformers on high voltage transmission
systems. Although the steady state performance of CVT is generally good, the
transient response can be poor. As distance relays operate under dynamic
conditions following a fault, before steady state conditions are obtained, the
transient response of CVT is an important consideration.
