Operational Check After Install
a. On the Standby SCDI, left click in a gray area and select Start Radar Data Display then click on the
pulse compressor “Weather Compressed Pulse Video Magnitude” of the weather box.
b. Right click for A-scope and click on Latch.
c. Set Standby REX to Maintenance, then set Selected REX to Maintenance. (Both REXs must be in
maintenance to access the Test Terminal menu.)
d. Bring up the Selected REX popup menu, select TEST TERMINAL menu, and select Change Beam and
STC overrides.
e. Set Wx Beam Override Enable to True and set Wx Beam Override Value to High Beam. Select Change.
Confirm success in status window.
f. The high beam should now be selected. Reset the A-scope and observe that the latched ground pattern as
seen on the A-scope rises to a certain level and stops.
g. Set Wx Beam Override Value to Low Beam. Select Change. The amplitude on the A-scope should now
rise a little more since it is seeing more ground clutter from the low beam. If this occurs it means the
weather beam switch is working as expected and has been cabled correctly. If the results do not occur as
expected the unit will need to be troubleshot and repaired.
