Demand Heater Wiring Option Appendix
This section details common heating layouts using the heat pump. The main heat pump supply wiring is
covered in previous Appendix “Wiring” section. This included, heat pump/tank circ pump, controller, tank
sensor, emergency backup and optional cooling. In this section we show common controlling logic to
move the stored heating and cooling energy to various emitters including RADIANT FLOOR HEAT (H), FAN
COILS (F), AND CENTRAL AIR HANDLERS (A). This section represents most of the common design
arrangements. Optional more advanced control can also be done by using the more Advance RESOL MX
Controller.
H - Wiring HEATING Hydronic Pump (H)
A Caleffi ZSR 101 Zone Relay is used to connect a room thermostat to the radiant floor zone pump. If
multiple zone pumps or valves are used, then we can supply a Caleffi ZSR equipped to handle the number
of zones required. A common thermostat will have a R and a W heating terminal outputs. Some
thermostats also require 24 VAC supply to operate and if so, you will also connect the C on these 3 wire T-
T-Stats. Simply connect the R & W terminals on the Zone Relay to the R & W on the thermostat. When a
heating call occurs the circulation pump will then be activated. The switch on the Pump Relay will close
and provide 120 VAC to the pump (consult Caleffi Zone Relay manual for proper pump wiring as this
differs between models)
