7.2 Troubleshooting Guide
The Troubleshooting Guide is an aid to identifying symptoms observed
while operating the PCS, understanding probable causes, and suggesting
corrective action.
If a problem cannot be resolved by following these instructions, please call
Artel Technical Support at 888-406-3463 option 2 for assistance.
Note: symptoms are listed first, followed by displayed messages in
alphabetical order.

No display at instrument power-on
Power supply not properly connected
Check that the power supply is
connected to the instrument; that the
power cord is plugged into the supply,
and the power cord is also plugged into
a live, grounded a.c. outlet.

Instrument fails instrument
calibration
Vials not adequately clean and dry
before equilibrating in the vial block
Gently clean vials with high grade
isopropyl alcohol, a lint-free wipe and
place in the vial block for 15 minutes.
Calibration kit not fully equilibrated to
room temperature.
The kit should be allowed to adequately
equilibrate to room temperature, and the
vials then placed in the vial block at least
15 minutes prior to use.
Vials not inserted in the vial holder in
the proper orientation.
The vertical line on the labels for these
vials should face toward the front of the
instrument.
Bubbles in the vial due to excessive
shaking prior to insertion in the vial
holder.
Allow bubbles to disperse before
performing a calibration.
Bad CAL A
Remove Vial
Invalid CAL A vial inserted during
pipette calibration.
Ensure that the Reagent Kit CAL A vial
is inserted.
Calibration Ended
Press any Key
The blank vial was removed
unexpectedly during a calibration.
Press any key.
Do you want printed
results? (yes/no)
The instrument doesn’t detect any
connected printer.
If printed results aren’t desired, press
NO.
If printed results are desired, make sure
that the printer is powered on and is on-
line, then press YES.
Error:
Bad Electrical Power

minute, then back on
One of the instrument power supplies
didn’t power up properly.
Power off the instrument and wait for
one minute, then power it back on. If the
problem recurs, call Artel Technical
Support.
