4.11 Continuing a Calibration Run with Another Vial
When the vial's maximum capacity is reached and additional data points
are needed for the current pipette, answer YES to the Use New Vial?
(Y/N) prompt. The Instrument will prompt to remove the current vial and
insert another one. It will automatically take the Blank Vial readings and
prompt for the next sample addition. This process can be repeated with
subsequent vials.
By inserting vials as needed, up to 50 data points for a pipette can be
generated at a single volume. All of the data points will be available for
use in the statistical summary.
4.12 Calibrating an Adjustable Volume Pipette at Multiple Volumes
Calibration of adjustable volume pipettes at multiple volumes can be
performed by starting at any volume within the pipette’s operating range.
When the desired number of samples at the first volume have been
dispensed, press ENTER. (If the END OF RUN key is pressed, the
Instrument will not retain the pipette ID number.) The group statistics for
the first volume will be computed and the results printed. At the next
prompt:
Reprint Results?
(Yes/No)
If sample readings need to be eliminated from the statistical summary,
refer to Section 4.9, “Eliminating Sample Readings,” for instructions.
If no sample readings need to be eliminated, press NO. At the next
prompt:
Enter Pipette
Volume: _ uL
Enter a different volume within the pipette’s range. The same pipette can
be calibrated at different volumes by pressing the ENTER key at the
completion of each volume.
IMPORTANT In some cases, the range of volumes for an adjustable volume pipette may require the use
of more than one Range of Sample Solution. Special attention should be taken to observe
the Sample Solution range that is noted on the display. If an improper Sample Solution
has been pipetted into the Blank Reagent Vial, that vial is no longer usable and should be
discarded.
After completion of the calibration run, press the END OF RUN key. The
group statistics will be computed and the results printed. See Appendix B
for an example Printout.
