The One and Only Polarimeter That Doesn’t Use Observation Tubes
The instrument measures angle of rotation equivalent to a 20mm observation tube.
Conversions to other observation tube lengths can be done by calculation.
Instrument’s displayed angle of rotation × (Length of observation tube you wish to
convert ÷20mm) ＝ Converted observation tube’s angle of rotation
Example:
When the instrument’s displayed angle of rotation is －2°:
Conversion to 100mm observation tube: －2°×（100÷20）＝－10°
Conversion to 200mm observation tube: －2°×（200÷20）＝－20°
For cases when your objective is, “I want to know
the concentration of B!”
