A ss is tanc e s y s tem s
- your vehicle is traveling at speeds between ap-
proximately 20 to 50 mph (30 to 85 km/h) and
it approaches a stationary vehicle.
- your vehicle is traveling at speeds between ap-
proximately 20 to 155 mph (30 to 250 km/h)
and it approaches a vehicle that is clearly trav -
eling more slowly or a vehicle in your direction
of travel t hat is stopped.
When this warning occurs, it may only be possi-
ble to avoid a collision by swerving or braking
strong ly. The message
Audi pre se nse.
¢ fig. 134 and a warning t one will warn you
about the danger .
If there is an impending collision with vehicles,
there will also be an
acute warning in the form of
sharp braking. If you do not react to the acute
warn ing, pre sense front can brake with increas-
ing force within the limits of the system . This re-
duces the vehicle speed in the event of a coll i-
sion .
Autom atic deceleration
Depending on the speed, pre sense front can de-
celerate automatica lly shortly before a collision:
- if there are stationary vehicles when you are
traveling at speeds up to approx imately 28
mph (45 km/h)
- if there are vehicles dr iving or stopped ahead
whe n you are traveling at speeds up to approxi-
mately 155 mph (250 km/h)
Autom atic braking force increa s e
If pre sense front determines that you are not
braking strongly enough when a collision is imm i-
nent, it can increase the braking force, depending
on the situation and speed:
- if there are stationary vehicles when you are
traveling at speeds up to approx imately 50
mph (85 km/h)
- if the re are vehicles driving or stopped ahead
when you are traveling at speeds up to approxi-
mately 155 mph (250 km/h)
A WARNING
Pre sense front cannot overcome the laws of
physics. It is a system designed to assist and
132
it cannot prevent a coll ision in every circum-
stance . The driver must always intervene. The
driver is always respons ible for braking at the
correct time . Do not let the increased safety
provided tempt you into tak ing risks. This
could increase your risk of a colli sion.
- Keep in mind that pre sense front can pro-
vide war nings or brake unexpectedly. Al-
ways secure any cargo or objects that you
are transporting t o reduce t he risk of dam-
age or inj ury.
- The system can deploy incorrectly due to
syst em-specific li m its.
- Please note that the sensor does not always
detect all objects. Thi s increases the risk of
a coll ision .
- Pre sense front does not react to vehicles
tr aveli ng towa rd you in the same lane, to
people, groups of people, anim als, obj ects
that are crossing the road, or objects t hat
are difficult to detect ¢ .&

mation on page 124 .
A WARNING
Pre sense front may be restricted or not avail-
able in the fo ll ow ing example situations :
- if there are othe r reflective objects nearby,
such as guard rails or vehicles
- when driving into a tunnel
- in heavy fog, rain, spray or snow
- if t he radar sensor is dirt y, covered in ice,
damaged, or covered
- in curves
- if the ESC was restr icted or switched off
@ Note
The sensor can be displaced by impacts or
damage to the bumper, wheel housing and
underbody. Pre sense front can be impaired
by this . Have an author ized Audi dealer or au-
