The transm ission will automatically select the sporty shift programs
when you dr ive at higher speeds, or with heavy accele rat ion and
frequently changing speeds . Upshifts are delayed to make full use of
eng ine power. Downshifting takes place at hig her engine speeds than
in the economy programs .
The selection of the most suitab le shift program is a continuous,
automatic process . The dr iver can a lso ma ke the t ransmissio n swit ch
to a sporty program by
qu ickly pressing down the gas pedal.
This causes the t ransmission to shift down to a lower gear to achieve
rapid accelerat io n, e .g . for quickly passing another ve hicle. You do
not need to press the gas peda l into the kick-down range . After the
transm issio n has upshifted, the o rigina l prog ram is se lected
according to your driving sty le .
An additional sh ift program allows the automatic transmission to
select the proper gear for uphill and downhi ll gradients.
This keeps the transmission from shifting up and down unnecessari ly
on hills. The transmiss ion will shift dow n to a lower gear when the
driver presses the brake peda l on a downhi ll gradient . This makes use
of the braking effect of t he e ngine without the need t o sh ift down
manually . •

Switching to manual shift program
- Push the se lector lever to the right from D. As soon as the
transmission has switched over, the selected gear appears
in the display.
To upshift
- Push t he selector lever forwa rd to the plus position 0
