The warning light is a reminde r to fasten safety belts .
The warning light -4 comes on for a few seconds after the ignition is
switched on as a rem inder t o fas t en your safet y belt .

Brake system BRAKE (USA)/ (CD) (Canada)
This warning/i ndicator light illuminat es when th e brake
fluid level is too low or whe n there is a malfunct ion in the
ABS, or when the parking brake is se t.
The light illum inate s when t he ignition is turned on . It goes out after
th e engin e has been sta rt ed and t he parking bra ke is fully re leased.
This indicates that the bra ke wa rning light is function ing proper ly.
If the brake warning light does not light up when the engine is
cranking or the parking brake is applied, there may be a malfunc-
tion in the electrical system . In this case, contact your Audi dealer .
If the ABS fa ils, t he ABS warn ing/ indicat or light . (USA

warning light come on at the same time, the rear wheels could
lock up first under hard braking. Lock-up of the rear wheel brakes
can cause loss of vehicle control and an accident. Have your vehicle
repaired immediately by your authorized Audi dealer or a qualified
workshop. Drive slowly and avoid sudden, hard brake application.
• Canada models: If both, the brake warning light «D> and the
ABS warning light
J come on at the same time , the rear wheels
could lock up first under hard braking. Lock-up of the rear wheel
brakes can cause loss of vehicle control and an accident. Have your
vehicle repaired immediately by your authorized Audi dealer or a
qualified workshop. Drive slowly and avoid sudden , hard brake
application
• If the brake warning/indicator light does not go out after a few
seconds and the parking brake released, or lights up while you are
driving , the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir is too low. If you
believe that it is safe to do so , proceed immediately at low speed
to the nearest autho rized Audi dealer or qualified workshop and
have the brake system inspe cted .
• Please be very careful and always keep in mind that after
several brake applications, you will need greater pressure on the
brake pedal to stop your vehicle . Consequently, you must allow
for increased braking distances . Trying to brake as quickly as usual
could lead to an accident . •
