(I) Tips
You should switch on the eme rgency flasher when :
• you are the last vehicle standing in a traffic jam so that any other
vehicles com ing can see you, or when
• your vehicle has broken down or yo u are in an emergency sit ua-
tion, or when
• your vehicle is being towed by a tow t ruck or if you are towing
another vehicle behind you . •
Turn signals - ¢ ¢ and high beam ~D Lever
The lever on the left side of the steering column is used to
operate the turn signals and the high beam as well as the
headlight flasher.

The turn signa l and high beam lever has the following f unc-
tions:
Turn signals ¢ Q
- Lift the lever up all the way ~ fig. 47 © to use the right
turn signals, or push t he lever down all the way
0 to use
the left turn signals.
Auto - blink
- Move the lever (up or down) just to the point of resistance
to use the t urn signa ls for as long as you need them, for
example wh en changi ng lanes.
- Briefly move the lever up or down just to the point of resis-
tance and then release it to flash the turn signals
three
times in succession.
This feature allows to indicate lane
changes clearly and with minimum effort w hen driving on
highways.
High beam ~D
- Push t he lever forward @ to sw itch on the hig h beam .
- Pull t he lever back towards you to switch off the high
beam .
Headlight flasher ~D
Pull the lever towa rd the steering wheel © to use t he
headlig ht flasher.
Not e s on these feature s
• The turn signals on ly work wit h the ignition sw itched on. The indi-
cator lights ¢ or ¢ in the inst rument cluste r =>
page 11 also blink.
• After you have t urned a corner, the t urn signal switches off auto-
mat ically .
• The
high beam works only when the headlights a re on. The indi-
cator light [D in the instrument cluster illuminates when the high
beams are on .
• The headlight flasher works only as long as you hold the lever -
even if there a re no lights switched o n. The ind icator light ID in t he
instrument cluster illuminates when you use the headlight flasher . _..
