- If you leave the guidance fixtures instal-
led for several days, they could leave a
mark on the upho lstery on the seat cush -
ion and backrest in the area that the
guidance fixtures were installed. The up-
holstery would also be permanently
stretched around the guidance fixtu res.
This applies especially to leather seats .
Installing a child restraint with LATCH
lower anchorages
Whenever you install a child restraint always
follow the child restraint manufacturer's in-
structions .

Mounting

Make sure the seatback of the rear seat
bench is in the upright posit ion and securely
latched in place .

Att ach both hook-on connectors wit h t he
spring catch release on the child safety seat
onto the LATCH lower anchorage so that the
connectors lock into place

Pull on the connec tor attachments to make
s ure they are properly attached t o the LATCH
lower anchorage .

Pull straps tight follow ing the child re-
stra int manufacturer's instruct ions.
Releasing
~
Loosen the tension on the straps following
the child restraint manufacturer's instr uc-
tions .
~
Depress the spring catches to re lease the
anchorage hooks from the lower anchorag-
es.

Remember: Use tether straps to help keep the
child restraint firm ly in place.
A WARNING
Improper use of the LATCH system can in-
crease the risk of serious personal injury
and death in an accident .
- These anchors were deve loped only for
child safety seats using the "LATCH" sys-
tem.
- Never attach other child safety seats,
be lts or other objects to these anchors.
-A lways make sure that you hear a click
when latch ing the seat in place. If you do
not hear a click the seat is not secure and
could fly forward and hit the inter ior of
the vehicle, or be ejected from the vehi-
cle .
A WARNING
Imp roper installat ion of child rest raints
will increase the risk of injury in an acci-
dent.
- Always follow the child restraint system
manufac t urer's instruct ions for proper
installa t ion of t he child restra int system
and proper use of tether str aps as well as
the lower anchorages or safety belts in
your vehicle.

formation and WARNINGS about child
safety and the insta llation of child re-
