3.3.7 Connecting Power
The device can be connected to one of the following power sources (depending on
customer ordered system):
AC power source (refer to ''AC Power System'' on page 37)
DC p
ower source (refer to ''DC Power System'' on page 41)
Warning:
Do not combine AC and DC power configurations in the same chassis (i.e.,
ensure that both of the installed PEM modules support the same power
configuration).
Earthing
Prior to connecting the device to the power supply, ensure that you have
earthed (grounded) the chassis (as described in ''Earthing (Grounding) the
Chassis'' on page 47).
3.3.7.1 Connecting to the AC Power Supply
The device is supplied with two PEM modules. Each PEM module is equipped with an AC
power inlet (IEC 60320 type).
Note:
• The AC power option is supported only by Mediant 3000.
• For power redundancy, ensure that you connect each PEM module to a
different AC supply circuit.
• For power redundancy, ensure that the two AC power sources have the
same ground potential.
• To power down the device, disconnect both AC power cords from the
PEM modules.
