Upgrade a GV4 (version 1.00 – 1.99), GV3 Series, GV2 Series, G Series, or
Non-G Series Control Panel to a GV4 v2.00 or Later Using Remote
Programming Software (RPS) 5.15 or Later
RPS version 5.15 or newer is required to upgrade an existing G Series, GV2, or GV3 Series
Control Panel installation to a GV4 Series v2.00 control panel. Refer to the RPS help files for
the specific control panel for additional information on control panel conversion.
Notice!
After updating the firmware from version 1.xx to 2.xx, the configuration values will be set to
the default settings.
Creating a backup of the control panel account:
1. From the Panel List window, click New.
2. To create a new control panel account from one currently in the Panel List, from the New
Panel window, click the Existing tab. Select the control panel account from the list of
existing panels, and click OK.
3. Fill in the appropriate parameters to create the GV4 Version 1.x control panel account
and click OK.
Convert the newly created v1 control panel account.

Updating RPS and importing the firmware file:
1. Install RPS v5.17.
2. To import the new firmware into RPS, from the Main menu, select Config > System.
Select the Firmware Files tab, and then click Import.
3. Click the Select Firmware File ellipsis (browse) button, and then browse to and select
the firmware file to upload.
4. Click Open and then Next. When the import finishes, click Finish.
Updating the control panel firmware:
1. Open the new GV4 v1.x control panel account and connect to the control panel using a
high speed connection. Do not use a phone connection.
2. Click the Firmware Update Wizard
icon. The Firmware Update Wizard opens.
3. Click Next, and then select the correct firmware file. Click Next.
4. Select the Acknowledge to Continue check box and click Next to begin the update.
When the update finishes, the Disconnecting from the Control Panel message appears.
