f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edg
es are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool
bits etc., in accordance with these instruc?
tions and in the manner intended for the
particular type of power tool, taking into ac?
count the working conditions and the work
to be performed. Use of the power tool for op
erations different from those intended could re
sult in a hazardous situation.
5) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a quali?
fied repair person using only identical re?
placement parts. This will ensure that the safe
ty of the power tool is maintained.
2 SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
FOR COMPOUND MITRE SAWS
Secure the work piece. A work piece held with a
clamping device or a vice is more secure than when
held with the hand.
Do not work with material containing asbestos.
Asbestos is considered to be carcinogenic.
Take protective measures when dust is pro?
duced while working that can be detrimental to
health, combustible or explosive. For example,
some dusts are considered carcinogenic. Wear a dust
protection mask and use dust/chip extraction, if it can
be connected.
Keep your working space clean. Material mixtures
are especially dangerous. Light metal dust can burn or
explode.
Never leave the power tool before it has come to
a complete standstill. Coasting tools can cause in
juries.
Do not use the power tool with a damaged cable.
If the cable is damaged while working, do not
touch the damaged cable and pull the mains
plug. A damaged cable increases the risk of an elec
trical shock.
Connect a power tool that is used outdoors by
means of a fault current (FI) circuit breaker.
Connect the power tool to properly earthed
mains. Receptacles and extension cables must have
functional protective conductors.
Before beginning work, check the proper func?
tioning of the FI circuit breaker. Have damaged FI
protective switches repaired or replaced by a
Bosch customer service location.
Never make the warning signs on the power tool
unrecognisable.
Never stand on the power tool. Serious injuries
could occur when the power tool tips over or when
coming in contact with the saw blade.
Ensure that the swinging guard functions prop?
erly and can move freely. Never wedge the swinging
guard in the open position.
Keep hands away from the sawing area and the
saw blade. Contact with the saw blade will cause in
juries.
Never remove cuttings, wood chips or similar
from the cutting area while the power tool is run?
ning. Always return the tool arm first to the rest posi
tion and switch off the power tool.
Advance the saw blade against the work piece
only when it is switched on. Otherwise, the danger
of a kickback exists when the saw blade catches in
the work piece.
Use the power tool only when the working sur?
face is free of all objects such as adjustment
tools, wood chips, etc. with the exception of the
piece to be worked. Small pieces of wood or other
objects that come in contact with the rotating saw
blade can strike the operator with high speed.
Always firmly clamp the piece to be worked. Do
not work with pieces that are too small to clamp.
Otherwise, the distance of the hands to the rotating
saw blade is too small.
Use the saw only for sawing materials that are
specified in the intended use. Otherwise, the saw
can be overloaded.
Do not use dull, cracked, bent or damaged saw
blades. Saw blades with dull or faulty aligned teeth
can cause increased friction as the result of a too nar
row saw gap, jamming or kickback.
