900-301_IFU-V2.2_11316-S0-20131023-EN Operating Manual ARC 250 / 303 89
Recommended protective distances between portable and mobile HF telecommunications
devices and the ARC 250 and ARC 303 (IEC 60601-1-2, Table 206)
The ARC 250 and ARC 303 are designed to be used in an electromagnetic environment in which HF interference
is controlled. The customer or user of the ARC 250 and ARC 303 can help avoid electromagnetic interference by
complying with the minimum distance between portable and mobile HF telecommunication devices (transmitters)
and the ARC 250 and ARC 303. This distance depends on the output power of the communication device
concerned, as specified below.
Nominal transmitter
output (W)
Protective distance (m) depending on transmission frequency
150 kHz to 80 MHz
d = 0.35 × P
80 MHz bis 800 MHz
d = 0.35 × P
800 MHz to 2.5 GHz
d = 0.7 × P

For transmitters whose maximum nominal output is not specified in the table above, the recommended protective
distance d in meters (m) can be determined using the equation in the corresponding column, where P is the
maximum nominal output power of the transmitter in watts (W) as specified by the transmitter manufacturer.
Note 1
The higher frequency range applies in case of 80 MHz and 800 MHz.
Note 2
These guidelines may not be applicable in all cases. The propagation of
electromagnetic waves is influenced by their absorption and reflection by buildings,
objects and people.
