Pull the bobbin threads to create the desired
amount of gather, and then smooth the
gathers by ironing them.

Fagoting
Stitching across an open seam is called fagoting. It is
used on blouses and children’s clothing.

Separate the two pieces of fabric by about
4 mm (approx. 3/16 inch), and baste them
onto thin paper.

Press or , and then set the stitch width
to the maximum (7.0 mm).

Attach presser foot “J”, and then sew with the
presser foot centered between the two pieces
of fabric.

When you are finished sewing, gently tear off
the paper.
