9.2.4 Display with Loss of the Web Edge
With web edge or web center-line guiding using wide array edge
sensors, an exclamation mark appears in the display in the corres-
ponding sensor symbol in the event of a loss of the web edge to
be scanned.

9.3 Performing the Material Setup
WARNING
Danger of cutting on sharp edges of the material web!
Severe cutting injuries caused by the edges of the moving material
web.

Never touch the edges of moving material webs.

Carry out the material setup only when the production
machine is stationary.
9.3.1 Function
During the material setup the controller is automatically adjusted
to the properties of the material to be scanned. For this purpose
the microprocessor records the signal level received from the
wide array edge sensor twice. The first recording for determining
the bright value is carried out with the sensing beam unblocked
(no material within the sensor measuring range). The second
recording for determining the dark value takes place with the
sensing beam blocked (material within the sensor measuring
range). After recording the signal levels the microprocessor uses
the two values to calculate the opacity of the material.
