7.7.2 Ignition Plug

Inspecting Ignition Plug
1. Remove the ignition plug cap.
* Avoid pulling cord when removing the ignition plug
cap.
2. Remove the ignition plug with a plug wrench.
3. Check for the following defects or damage. Replace plug
if damaged or cannot be cleaned.
(See page 13 : lgnition plug No.BPR4ES)
* Damage to insulator
* Worn electrodes
* Carbon deposits on electrodes
* Damage or breakage of gasket
* Burned insulator
Cleaning Ignition Plug
1. Clean the ignition plug with a wire brush and plug cleaner.
2. Adjust the electrode (spark) clearance with
sandpaper, to keep the following clearance:
3. Install the ignition plug.
4. Attach the ignition plug cap.
Standard clearance: 0.75 mm
