Collecting System Information
This chapter describes techniques that you can use to collect system information for troubleshooting
routers using Cisco IOS XR software. It includes the following sections:

Capturing Logs
See the “Troubleshooting Techniques and Approaches” section on page 1-1 in Chapter 1, “General
Troubleshooting,” for information on collecting current system information. You can collect system
information using the following commands:
• The following commands are used to capture logs:

show tech-support—Displays system information for Cisco Technical Support
–
show logging—Displays the contents of the logging buffers
–
show system verify—Displays system verification information
• dumpplaneeeprom: displays the serial number of the chassis. This command is executed in ROM
monitor (ROMMON) mode. The following example shows the output of the command:
