Vehicle Child Restraint Anchorage System (LATCH)
• LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for
Children. This term refers to the anchors built into
a vehicle for attaching child restraints and consists
of two lower anchors at the crease between the
vehicle seat back and vehicle seat cushion and a
top tether anchor behind the vehicle seat as shown
in Figure 30.
– LATCH Lower Anchors: If not readily visible, the
LATCH lower anchors may be noted by a symbol
located near the crease between the vehicle
seat back and vehicle seat cushion, as shown in
Figure 31.
– Top Tether Anchor: If covered, the top tether
anchor locations may be identified by a symbol
as shown in Figure 32.
