What to do if no NMEA messages are transmitted to an external device from my ComNav GPS?
    • A
      Ann RamosJul 31, 2025
If no NMEA messages are being transmitted, first, ensure the GPS Switched Power is On by pressing the Display Head On/Off switch. Then, check the wiring from the GPS Compass to the Distribution Unit if the RS232 communication LEDs are not flashing. Verify the configuration for message transmission. If RS232 communication LEDs are flashing, check the wiring from the Distribution Unit to the external NMEA device.

Why are no values being displayed on my ComNav GPS?
    • M
      Mark KeyAug 4, 2025
If no values are being displayed, it might be because the GPS hasn't acquired enough satellites, so wait for it to acquire more. Also, check the Setup Page 'Port A- NMEA' for message rate, to ensure NMEA messages are configured to transmit from the GPS on Port A. Finally, check the Indicator Light on the Distribution Unit to ensure the RS232A TX connection from the GPS compass is connected.

What to do if the power LED is off on my ComNav GPS?
    • J
      John TorresAug 8, 2025
If the power LED is off, check the ship power connection. Also, ensure the Ship Power Breaker is turned ON. Finally, check and correct the Ship Power polarity if it is reversed.
  • D
    Daniel HowardAug 13, 2025
Why is the COG (Course Over Ground) ball not displayed on the Navigation Graphics page of my ComNav GPS?
    • M
      michellemitchellAug 13, 2025
If the COG ball isn't displayed, it could be because the SOG (Speed Over Ground) is too slow; wait until the vessel begins to move. Also, ensure NMEA messages for COG are being transmitted on Port A. Finally, check the RS232A TX connection.
  • N
    Nathaniel MitchellAug 17, 2025
What should I do if my ComNav GPS display head has no power?
    • C
      Casey NelsonAug 17, 2025
If the display head has no power, first, ensure the GPS Switched Power is On by pressing the Display Head On/Off switch. Next, check the wiring to the Display Head Terminal to make sure V+ or GND are wired correctly.
  • J
    James JacksonAug 21, 2025
What to do if not all data values are displayed on my ComNav GPS?
    • T
      Tina Byrd MDAug 21, 2025
If not all data values are displayed, it may be because the GPS has not acquired enough satellites for all values; wait for it to acquire more. Ensure NMEA messages are being transmitted from the GPS, as the required NMEA message, containing this data value, may not be transmitting from the GPS on Port A.
  • E
    Emily NicholsAug 26, 2025
What to do if my ComNav GPS has a blank LCD after powering on?
    • J
      John FinleyAug 26, 2025
If the LCD is blank after powering on, check the power supply voltage, as the voltage may be too low.
