This section identifies some quick checks for power-related problems.

Problem Possible Solution
Computer will not turn on. Ensure that the computer is connected to a power source.
Cables to the external power source are unplugged. Ensure that cables
connecting the computer and the external source are plugged in properly.
A PCI or ISA card that has been installed is defective. Remove any adapter
card that was just installed.
Computer does not automatically display the date
and time.
The real-time clock (RTC) battery may need to be replaced. See Chapter 5
for replacement procedures.
