TROUBLESHOOTING CHART ( FOR QUALIFIED SERVICE TECHNICIAN ) - MAIN BURNER
Please follow the following corrective actions in order.
SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSES CORRECTIVE ACTION
Flame Too
Large
1. Defective operator section of gas
valve.
 
3. If installed above 2,000 ft.
 
 
 
1. Noisy pilot.
 
(If it whistles or resonates).
3. Excessive gas input.
Noisy Flame
 
 (do not enlarge orices).
 
1. Clogged main burner ports.
2. Clogged draft hood.
3. Linted up mixer opening.
Yellow Tip Flame
(Some yellow
tipping on Propane
gas is permissible).
1. Clean main burner ports. (Do not enlarge ports).
2. Clean draft hood.
3. Check for dust or lint at air mixer opening.
1. Blocked venting.
Floating
Flame

1. Gas leak.
 
3. Drafts around appliance.

(for “step” pressure chart see “Operation”).
4. Supply piping inadequately sized or incorrect inlet pressure.
5. Eliminate drafts.
 
