1. Replace the defective control module first, so the array has two good control modules.
2. Use the restart” command to make the active control module secondary.
3. Replace the control module that is now secondary (was active before the restart). (As described in Replacing
the Secondary Control Module on page 40.)
Replacing Both Control Modules
Use this procedure to replace both control modules in the array:
1. Replace the secondary control module first. (As described in Replacing the Secondary Control Module on
page 40.)
2. Use the restart” command to make the active control module secondary.
3. Replace the control module that is now secondary (was active before the restart). (As described in Replacing
the Secondary Control Module on page 40.)
Removing a Control Module
Before removing a control module from a PS-M4110 blade storage array:
Review the information at the beginning of Replacing a Control Module on page 39.
Attach an electrostatic wrist strap. See Protecting Hardware on page 6.
Caution: Do not remove an active control module.
Control modules are located in the large center slots of the array drawer. The control module slots are positioned
lengthwise between the storage drives, as shown in Figure 25.
Facing the front of the array drawer, the left-side control module is CM0 and the right-side control module is
CM1.
