Installing a Control Module
You can install a control module without shutting down the array.
Caution: Do not mix control module types in an array.
Caution: Do not remove an active control module.
Control modules are located in the large center slots of the array drawer. The control module slots are positioned
lengthwise between the storage drives, as shown in Figure 27.
Facing the front of the array drawer, the left-side control module is CM0 and the right-side control module is
CM1.

Before removing a control module from a PS-M4110 blade storage array:
• Review the information at the beginning of Replacing a Control Module on page 39.
• Attach an electrostatic wrist strap. Protecting Hardware on page 6.
Control modules are installed with the release latch and LEDs facing upward, and connections facing
downward. The release latch must be fully opened before inserting the control module into the slot.
