7.14. Routine HEPA Filter Inspection
Perform initial inspection on HEPA filters before installation and periodically
afterwards. Section 5.3.1 provides details on HEPA filter handling and inspection
prior to installation. Following routine inspections are recommended once filter is
put in service.
1. In general, inspect for cracks, breaks or pinholes. Replace as necessary (See
Section 7.16.3 for a list of some of the conditions that warrant filter
replacement).
2. Measure the pressure drop across the HEPA filter. An increase in static
pressure drops of more than double that of the filter’s initial static pressure
drop measurement is observed, ITW - Despatch recommends replacing the
filter. Refer also to Instructions V-30, HEPA Filter Instructions, online at
www.despatch.com for details on replacement requirements and installation
procedures.
7.15. Inspecting & Cleaning
7.15.1. Oven Chamber Interior
Keep perforated panels/louvers and other surfaces of the chamber clean. Use a
vacuum cleaner to clean perforated panels.
7.15.2. Oven Exterior
Clean oven exterior with general purpose light detergent and water. Do not clean
while the oven is hot. Do not use abrasives or chemical solvents.
7.15.3. Vents
Make sure intake and exhaust openings are clean and free of blockages. Any dirt
accumulation in the air circuit can unbalance temperatures and airflow patterns.
