6 Diagnostic Procedures
You can identify operational issues using either
component-based diagnostic procedures, or through
error codes found on the Dometic wall switch.
Refer to “Component-Based Diagnostics” on page 20
and “Error-Based Diagnostics” on page 28 for more
details.

6.1 Component-Based Diagnostics
This section has information to help you identify various
operational issues by diagnosing individual component
parts.
Remember to check the basics before replacing
any parts, such as contributing issues. Refer to the
“Installation Issues” on page 29 and “Maintenance”
on page 48 for more detail.
Component Diagnostic Question Action Based On Status Page
Burner Assembly
Does the gas solenoid valve open, with a
spark present, but there is no ignition?
Does the burner fail to ignite, have an
erratic burner flame, or is sooting?
Gas Only - Pilot Models: does the main
burner have an erratic flame or fail to
light?
Perform the following checks:
• Check the burner tube for blockages or
misalignment. Clear any blockages and
realign the burner tube.
• Check that the flame holder in the end of
the burner is clear. Clear any blockages.
• Gas Only - Pilot Model Only:
– Check the main burner orifice for
blockages. Remove the blockages if
found. Confirm the air shutter opening
is 0.25 in. (6 mm). If the air shutter
is not to specification, adjust the air
shutter opening.
– Check the alignment of the flame
spreader and realign if necessary.

but a spark is present?
Does the gas solenoid valve fail to open

model operate using electric power but
does not operate on gas?
Does the gas/electric combination
model not operate on either gas or
electric?
On Demand Models: when the water
is running, does the appliance fail to
attempt ignition and the fan fail to run?
On Demand Models: when the water
is running, does the appliance fail to
attempt ignition but the fan runs?
Perform all relevant checks to determine
whether the control board is defective. If so,
replace the control board.
