Starting the Engine
Prestart Conditions
NOTE: The engine will not start unless the
transmission directional control lever is in the
NEUTRAL position.
1. Engage the parking brake, if not already engaged.
Place the transmission directional control lever in the
NEUTRAL position.
2. If Lift trucks are equipped with electrical disconnect
switches, the engine will not start unless the
disconnect switch is in the ON (closed) position.
Before starting, turn the disconnect switch to the
OFF(open) position.
LP Engine
WARNING
LP fuel is flammable and can cause personal injury.
Inspect LP fuel lines and fitting for leaks.
Inspect tank for secure mounting.
1. Open the tank fuel valve by slowly turning the valve
counterclockwise. Observe the LP gauge(if
equipped).
2. Turn the engine ignition switch to the START
postion. Release it when the engine starts.
3. If the engine does not start, do not press on the
accelerator pedal. Turn the starter switch to OFF
position, then repeat step 2 and depress the
accelerator pedal slightly during cranking.
4. Allow the engine to warm up slowly.
