Function
Used exhalation gas is collected in the exhalation bag and flows to the relief valve
in case of overpressure in the breathing circuit. Excess gas is generated during
mixed gas operation. Due to the constant dosage device, gas volume is constantly
supplied to the breathing circuit. The same amount of gas is therefore released on
the exhalation side through the relief valve. The gas first flows through a non-return
valve and then through the adjustable exhalation valve and a bubble diffuser into
the environment.
Operation
During a dive with pure oxygen, i.e., without dosage, the relief valve can be set to
the hardest level (lever on the left). In this operation mode, there is no constant
excess gas in the breathing circuit during the dive. If the diver switches to mixed
gas operation, the valve must be set to a lighter level.
8.3.8 Breathing circuit connecting pieces
At the top of the housing, there are connecting pieces on both sides which connect
the breathing bags with the breathing hoses and secure them in the housing. The
connectors each have a plug-in connector with push button on the outside of the
housing for connecting the breathing hoses to the device, inside the housing the
counterpart for fastening the breathing bags. The connecting pieces have a defined
position on the housing and engage securely in the housing. From the inside, they
are screwed into the housing with a union nut. The connecting pieces are color
coded: on the exhalation side there are red buttons and O-rings, and on the
inhalation side green buttons and O-rings.
Function
The connecting pieces facilitate the assembly of the device and give the modules of
the breathing circuit a secure fit in the housing.
8.3.9 CO2 absorber
The CO2 absorber consists of 2 components, the container and the lid. The
connections to the breathing bags are fitted with colored O-rings. The sealing
between container and lid is done by a seal on the container. The secure
connection between lid and container is ensured by a rotating bayonet ring. For
