Second, the resistor will have to be able to handle the wattage dissipated by being connected to ground.
For that 8 Ohm resistor on a 12 Volt system the wattage rating of the resistor should be above 30 Watts.
Third, the current in this example could be high enough to cause a serious drain on the vehicle battery.
The 12V to the external resistor should be switched off with the ignition switch, or the blue line should not
be configured so that it is normally low when the ignition switch is off.
NOTE: Anyone attempting a type of installation like example 4 should have a thorough
understanding of electrical systems and electricity. Incorrect implementation of
this could damage the UM05 and/or create a fire hazard for the vehicle.
