The ambient temperature Ta may vary from the temperature specified on the type la-
bel. Information on the contents of the type label can be found in section 5.7 Name of
the product [}36].
3.9 Safety with explosion-proof devices
3.9.1 All devices
Devices with approvals for use in hazardous areas must only be installed, put into op-
eration and maintained by qualified personnel with knowledge of explosion protection
(see section 2.3 Qualified personnel [}15]). The national assembly and installation
regulations apply (e.g. IEC/EN60079-14, NFPA 70/NEC 500).
WARNING
Danger of explosion from use of devices in explosive atmospheres!
Devices without explosion protection and damaged devices may ignite an explosive
atmosphere.
Therefore:
▶ In hazardous areas, only use device types which are appropriately marked and in-
tended for this environment (see type label).
▶ Only use undamaged devices.
▶ Only use approved original spare parts when carrying out repairs.
WARNING
Risk of explosion due to unauthorised technical modifications.
The flame monitor device has a type approval. Any intervention or modification to the
device will void the design approval and can lead to an explosion. Therefore:
▶ Only ever have repairs carried out by the manufacturer or its authorised represent-
atives. This is the only way of ensuring compliance with the specifications for the
type approval.
For the operation of flame monitors with housing M4 and S2 in zone1/21 of a hazard-
ous area:
WARNING
Risk of explosion due to open sources of ignition!
The housing contains sources of ignition. Opening the housing in a potentially
explosive atmosphere can lead to explosions. Therefore, before opening:
▶ Make sure that there is no potentially explosive atmosphere.
▶ If there is a potentially explosive atmosphere, disconnect the flame monitor.
When
doing so, take into account both the flame monitor's supply voltage and the supply
voltage of the contact circuit.
