Installaon safety
CAUTION:

Refer to Edwards Safety Manual P400-40-100 for further safety informaon
associated with the specicaon, design, operaon and maintenance of vacuum
pumps and vacuum systems. This publicaon is available on request by contacng
Edwards.
Contact the local service centre or Edwards for more informaon regarding advice
or assistance on installaon.
Do not remove the temporary covers from the system inlet and exhaust unl ready
to connect to the vacuum or exhaust extracon system. Do not operate the system
unless the inlet and exhaust are connected to the vacuum and exhaust extracon
system.
If the system is to replace an exisng pumping system, vent and purge the process
system with nitrogen for 15 minutes before starng installaon work. Refer to Purge
gas specicaon on page 36 for details on gas purging requirements.
Isolate the other components in the process system from the electrical supply to
prevent accidental operaon.
Electrical and nitrogen supplies are potenally hazardous energy sources. Lockout
and tagout before performing any maintenance.
Obey all naonal and local rules and safety regulaons when installing the system.
Route and secure cables, hoses and pipework during installaon to avoid possible
risk of trips.
Ensure that the installaon area is clean and free from debris and contaminaon
before locang the pump.
Appropriate facilies must be provided as detailed in this manual for the system to
perform to specicaon.
Ensure the exhaust is piped to a suitable treatment plant where required to prevent
discharge of exhaust to the surrounding atmosphere.
Ensure the exhaust pipeline cannot become blocked. If using an exhaust isolaon
valve, ensure the pump cannot be operated with the valve closed.
Unpack and inspect

Do not use the pump if it is damaged. F
ailure to do so can result in injury to people
and/or damage to equipment.
Refer to Table 8 on page 33 for the mass of the pump.
