Cover System
Safety Information
e Retractable Security Cover is manufactured by Cover Pools,
the largest pool cover manufacturer in the world. It has been
manufactured to meet the stringent standards of the American
Society for Testing and Materials (A.S.T.M. F1346). e cover
comes with a latching device to prevent unwanted entry by a
small child. e reason for the A.S.T.M. F1346 safety standard is
to make certain that the cover can prevent drowning, particularly
of small children who may try to climb in and around the cover.
When installed outdoors, a provision must also be made to re-
move rainwater that may accumulate on the surface of the cover
that could also be a drowning hazard.
Drowning has become the second leading cause of accidental
death for children under the age of ve in the United States. In
ve states, drowning in swimming pools and spas is the leading
cause of death for children under the age of ve.
e cover meets the A.S.T.M. F1346 standards only if the in-
staller uses all the materials provided by the manufacturer in the
manner prescribed. Particular attention must be paid in follow-
ing the manufacturer’s instructions for the installation of the
latching device to prevent unwanted entry by a small child. In
addition, all outside installations must employ a cover pump to
automatically remove rainwater from the surface of the cover.
Pools of rainwater that may accumulate on top of the cover are
also a drowning hazard that must be addressed in order to meet
the A.S.T.M. criteria.
